NAAA Camp Medications Policy

  • NAAA Summer Sports Camps medical staff (ATC’s and First Aiders) do not hold on to nor do they distribute medications to campers. If campers have medications they are needing to take/ administer, they themselves may take or administer medications (given approval from a parent and or guardian).

  • It is recommended that the camper have prior experience with having taken said medication. If a camper needs help with administration of medication, the camper's parent/ guardian may allocate an appropriate time to arrive at camp to help them
    administer said medication.

  • If a camper has medication which requires refrigeration the medical staff member covering said camp must work with the camp director to locate the closest refrigerator in the area of the dorm for storage purposes.

  • The only exception to NAAA medical staff administering medication to campers will be in the event that a camper needs an epipen or inhaler given an allergy or asthmatic incident. If a camper has an epipen or inhaler, have the camper keep medication with them at all times. Medical staff is responsible for identifying where the medication is stored in the campers bag and keeping that bag close to the water tent during camp sessions for easy access.
